Multiple EMU websites unavailable from off-campus
08/05 13:30 About 1:15pm today Info Systems was made aware that EMU’s internet services are not available off-campus. Our server logs indicate that the disruption began about 12:30pm. This means our web servers cannot be accessed from off-campus locations, except Lancaster and WCSC where we have special VPN connections.
This also impacts e-mail services as follows:
1. No e-mail from external sources is getting to EMU e-mail servers.
2. E-mail sent from EMU servers is being sent to external addresses.
3. E-mail sent internally to @emu.edu addresses is being delivered.
Information Systems is currently diagnosing the problem and will resolve it as soon as possible.
08/05 15:00 No change of status. Outage continues. Info Systems is collaborating with outside technical resources.
08/05 15:30 The root cause of the problem has been identified. Off-campus access to www.emu.edu should now be working. Other services are being worked on (i.e. e-mail, webmail, Blackboard, etc). Progress will be made over the next hour and updates made here.
08/05 16:00 The problem has been fixed. E-mail to non-students will be sent prior to 5:00pm with additional information about the nature of the outage and its consequences.
Multi-Day Web Server Instability
07/27: The webserver experienced performance problems causing periods of outage, but was otherwise available.
07/28: Periods of poor performance continue.
07/29: Periods of poor performance continue.
07/30: Periods of poor performance continue.
08/02: Occasional periods of poor performance persist.
It is the top priority of the Info Systems department to solve these problems. Employees from Network Systems, Application Development and the Web Work Team have been collaborating all week to diagnose the specific problem(s). Some progress has been made, but the root cause has not yet been definitively identified.
UPDATE: 5:00pm, Fri, 7/30. Info Systems took several initiatives following a period of slow performance this morning. Web server performance has been good since about 11:30am and we are considering this outage “closed”.
UPDATE: 5:00pm, Mon, 8/02. Another period of performance degradation occurred around noon today. Previous Info Systems initiatives mitigated the effects of the problem but have not yet resolved it.

Scheduled SIS outage – Jenzabar EX & myEMU
UPDATE AT 12:30 PM, SUNDAY:
The EX application update was deployed by 10:00 this morning
UPDATE AT 8:00 PM, SATURDAY:
myEMU is now up again & ready for use.
The Jenzabar EX update is still in progress, and will be continued tomorrow morning. Check back by noon on Sunday, 7/18, for its status at that time.
======================================
The outage from 8:00 a.m. until approximately 8:00 p.m. will be to upgrade EX to 3.7.2. (myEMU depends on EX data.)
SIS and myEMU may be ready before 8:00 p.m. but check this page to determine the status before attempting to log into either system.
EX users: You should not attempt to login to the software until we announce here that it is ready to use, else data loss may occur.
myEMU users: Some functionality may be available intermittently after 10:00am; full functionality will be unavailable until the EX upgrade is complete.
SPECIAL NOTE TO myEMU users: If you typically access Blackboard from myEMU and myEMU is not available, you can go directly to Blackboard using http://bb.emu.edu.
Web server unavailable
A configuration change caused the EMU web site to not be available. The problem has been corrected.
