Student server outage
It was noticed that ST was misbehaving. After a reboot, things seem to be normal.
Details are in WO 16770
Student fileserver down
Loss of connectivity. Immediate processor spike after first reboot. Some services disabled on second reboot. Suspect anti-virus software. Processor utilization was low when problem was reported. It had been about 15 min. since the last AV file scan. Reloaded backup agent, but not AV.
Faculty-Staff fileserver down
Unloading the backup software caused a critical error, requiring an immediate restart. This can be considered an isolated incident.
Goldmine server
The Goldmine terminal server (used by the Admissions department) ran out of drive space earlier today and was taken off-line to have a larger hard drive put in. No data was lost and all systems are now functioning perfectly.
ZW server hung
ZW server not responding. CPU at 75%
rebooted it.
ST crashed
ST crashed today when doing some general maintenance.
When DSrepair finished, it showed on error corrected. Hit the ESC key and the notification went away, but the screen never came back to normal. CPU was at 90+, monitor showed nothing abnormal in busiest threads – a lot were 200,000 – 300,000. Had to power off and restart.
NS server unavailable
Could not log in to NS. The console reported that console.log could not be written. The server had not abended, and did not show abnormal stats in Monitor. A forced “down” got the server almost back to DOS, where Ctrl-Alt-Del reset it. On boot it stopped at the RAID controller BIOS, and the activity light for the lower left HD was on solid. After power-cycling, the server booted normally.
FS Server problems
Utilization was 86%, and the server show typical signs of being hung. Rebooted and did not load Sophos Sweep, but did load NovaNet.
Fileserver ST crashed
Debug screen with “multiple abends on processor 0” message at top. Re-enabled logical processors from BIOS setup and restarted. Server hit 46% utilization and became unresponsive within 10 min. Swapped ACPIDRV for MPS14 in STARTUP.NCF. Server is now back to original config, and processors 1-3 are offline.
