Found a recursive link situation that caused our internal search spider to crash the system. Backups was not the main problem after all.

Any web pages, web databases, and FTP connections would have experienced problems throughout this time.
As of 5AM there was some performance problems because of a unexpected timing of a backup process. In trying to correct other failed processes caused by this, the system went down because of running out of memory.

Setting up an extension for php may have caused a segmentation fault for all Apache sessions. Stop and Start required.

12:20am: original files restored. Had to wait for full backup to complete before restoring.
Web security problem
After imaging the web server was restarted without the security mode enabled. Until the problem was fixed around 8pm all secure web functions (e.g. donations, admissions application form, or password changes) were inaccessible.
Web and secondary email servers offline for imaging
The web server (WWW), one of our mail servers (TCell) will be taken offline for routine imaging. Web and calendar services will be offline while their respective servers are imaged and no email will be sent or received while TCell is imaged though users will be able to access their email and send emails for later processing.
Sophos update server restart
av.emu.edu, the server providing Sophos updates to the campus community, will be taken off-line for a few minutes to relocate its power cable.
Web survey system – 5/10 9-10am
The survey/form system will be going through an upgrade process sometime between 4/29 and 5/10. Exact timing will be posted here.

TMA iServiceDesk / OCS Copier System Upgrade
The server housing iServiceDesk needed a network card driver update. The procedure went smoothly.
TMA upgrade
A recently released update will solve problems PhysPlant has been having with their TMA software. TMA and the iServiceDesk web server (tma.emu.edu) will be taken offline to perform the update.
Windows server outages
A server misconfiguration caused a number of Windows servers to be inaccessible for several hours today. Affected servers include TMA, the Keyserver and the ArcView server.
