A routine update to our backup software necessitates rebooting most servers, affecting Blackboard, file & print services, e-mail, calendar and the web server.

The calendar server was not responding for some users. It has been restarted.
Novell server ZW had no network connectivity. Processor at 0, no response, tried to execute “ping” from console and window froze – could still page to other screens. Power cycled system
The web component of the calendar server was not accessible after the scheduled maintenance outage on Saturday.
The server hosting the SIS will be taken offline so that cables in the Data Center can be reorganized.
UPDATE at 2:00: The bulk of the work has been completed, however, the following services are currently unavaible:
– Terminal Server (TServe)
– TMA
– Choice Ticketing

This outage will affect ALL network services. Internet access should remain available for most of the time, however. Some services will be available during this period, though you are encouraged to not count on them.
A number of housekeeping tasks will be copleted, including:
– updates for disaster-recovery
– reorganization of cabling in the Data Center
– hardware upgrades for the file servers
– transition to a new web server
This item and the Critical Information Alert will be updated hourly if the work is not completed within the expected timeframe.
The previous Astra upgrade attempt failed to work as described by the vendor. We are going to attempt again, this time with assistance from the vendor.
Around 2:00pm the FSAPPS server became unstable. A reboot brought it back into operation.
Some computers around campus are experiencing network connectivity problems. Technicians are currently working on the problem.
The mail server was restarted after a crash and is operating normally.
