Websrv3 unresponsive
Logs indicate that the web server was unresponsive between 14 Mar 10:56pm and 15 Mar 1:50am. We have no reports from users about problems during this time. All systems are now functioning normally.
Web services outage
A problem with a database server affected the availability of several web based services, including www.emu.edu and Moodle.
Moodle scheduled outage
The Moodle server will automatically go offline at 3:00 AM for a maintenance task. It should return to service after 10 to 20 minutes.
Updates to blog, survey and form software on website (plus short EX & myEMU outage)

Machform 2.3
Other portions/functions of the EMU website will continue to function during this time, except as noted below.
NOTE: There will also be a short outage of EX and myEMU, from 9:00-9:15, to install updates to their respective servers.
Ruby on Rails Failure
The web server providing services to the on-campus community, primarily Info Systems, experienced a general Ruby-on-Rails failure. Info Systems techs isolated the problem and the web server was returned to service about 10:30am.
Web server blog system upgrade
The blog system installed on the web server will be upgraded. This may cause service disruptions.
Multi-Day Web Server Instability
07/27: The webserver experienced performance problems causing periods of outage, but was otherwise available.
07/28: Periods of poor performance continue.
07/29: Periods of poor performance continue.
07/30: Periods of poor performance continue.
08/02: Occasional periods of poor performance persist.
It is the top priority of the Info Systems department to solve these problems. Employees from Network Systems, Application Development and the Web Work Team have been collaborating all week to diagnose the specific problem(s). Some progress has been made, but the root cause has not yet been definitively identified.
UPDATE: 5:00pm, Fri, 7/30. Info Systems took several initiatives following a period of slow performance this morning. Web server performance has been good since about 11:30am and we are considering this outage “closed”.
UPDATE: 5:00pm, Mon, 8/02. Another period of performance degradation occurred around noon today. Previous Info Systems initiatives mitigated the effects of the problem but have not yet resolved it.
Web server down
A configuration mistake brought the web server down around midnight. Technicians repaired the mistake this morning. All systems are now working properly.
Web server unavailable
A configuration change caused the EMU web site to not be available. The problem has been corrected.
