Unscheduled: Outage affecting multiple systems

Updats 20141031 10:40am: All systems are now functional.

Update 20141031 9:50am: myEMU and computer logins are now working. Jenzabar EX is offline for validation. Other systems remain offline at present.

An unexpected failure in our virtual server cluster affected multiple systems. A partial list follows:

  • myEMU and Jenzabar EX
  • Desktop and lab logins
  • Illiad library system
  • TMA physical plant work management

Completed: myEMU

Outage extended until noon.

Saturday 18 Oct is a scheduled maintenance outage for myEMU. We will be installing upgrades.

We expect an outage for myEMU between 8:00am and 10:00am on Saturday the 18th. No other systems will be affected.

Scheduled: Internet connection maintenance

Tuesday 16 Sept between 7:00am and 7:40am is a scheduled maintenance outage for the Harrisonburg campus internet connection. Internet connectivity may be disrupted during this time.

Our internet service provider set the schedule for this outage. We expect disruptions between 7:00 and 7:15am; there may be a brief disruption around 7:30am. We expect full service to be restored by 7:40am at the latest. Details of systems impacts follow:

  • Harrisonburg campus: Access to printing, copying, network drives, and Moodle on the Harrisonburg campus will be unaffected. Access to the EMU website, myEMU, Gmail and the internet will be affected during periods of connection disruption.
  • Lancaster and Washington locations: Access to printing and copying, and Gmail and the internet at the Lancaster and Washington locations will be unaffected. Users will be unable to access wireless, network drives, and Moodle during periods of connection disruption.
  • Elsewhere: Off-campus users will be unable to access myEMU, the EMU website and Moodle during periods of connection disruption.

Scheduled: EX and myEMU

Thursday 11 Sept from 6:30-9:00am is a scheduled maintenance outage for Jenzabar EX and myEMU. We will be applying urgent hotfixes to Jenzabar EX. No reboot or client install will be required unless you are contacted by information systems staff.

We expect an outage for only EX and myEMU between 6:30am and 9:00am on Thursday the 11th. No other systems will be affected.

Sunday 7 Sept is a scheduled maintenance outage for Jenzabar EX and myEMU. We will be applying hotfixes to Jenzabar EX.

We expect an outage for EX and myEMU between 8:00am and 1:00pm on Sunday the 7th. No other systems will be affected.

Thursday 24 July from 7:00am to 8:30am is a scheduled information systems outage for EX (SIS) and myEMU. We will be installing an emergency hotfix to resolve problems with the EX version installed on Saturday. Jenzabar recommends we install this patch quickly.

Only EX (SIS) and myEMU will be affected by this outage. No other system will be affected.

Scheduled: voicemail and phone

Saturday July 19 between 8:00am and noon is a scheduled maintenance outage for Harrisonburg  campus voicemail and (briefly) phone systems. We are improving power delivery in the data center.

We expect outages as follows for the phone and voicemail system:

– Voicemail will be unavailable between 8:00am and noon. Phone calls will ring until answered or ended. Saved voicemail messages will be preserved but unavailable during the outage.

– Phone service to some extensions will be disrupted briefly at some point between 8:00am and noon while we reboot portions of the phone system. The disruption will last only a few minutes but we cannot determine exactly when it will occur.
