Over the summer users began reporting issues with answering incoming phone calls. The call will “split” and the recipient will have anywhere from 5 – 30 calls seemingly coming from one number that can’t be picked up. The phone will continue ringing and the user is unable to answer.
Technicians have been working with our phone vendor to find a resolution. Unfortunately there is not a quick fix. We continue to work toward a resolution and will post updates as they occur.
Update (8:35 am): All phones on campus should be working now.
At this point, it appears all phones on campus are not working. IS is investigating and we will update this post as soon as we know more.
1:18pm: The issue has been resolved.
Around 11:45am the phone system became unusable. Users will not be able to receive or place calls. Technicians are working on the issue.
We are currently experiencing a problem with phone.emu.edu. Users are unable to access the website.
Our phone service provider seems to be having an outage that affects us. We are working on a resolution.
On Wednesday, May 13 from 7:30 pm to 9:30 pm, IS will be installing an upgrade to the phone system. This will result in a two hour outage of the ability to make and receive calls from all phones on campus. Voicemail and call forwarding will not be available during this time as well.
On Wednesday May 22, between 6:30-7:30am, a component of the phone system will be upgraded. During the time of the upgrade, inbound and outbound calls will be unavailable. Internal calling will not be affected.
Both Lancaster and Harrisonburg campuses will be affected.
Update: just before 1 pm, service was restored.
The connection which delivers phone service to campus has failed. We have engaged the vendor to fix this issue. Inbound and outbound calling is currently unavailable.
Due to the return of problems with the cable that delivers phone service to campus, service for inbound and outbound calling will fail. We are working with our service provider to find a permanent solution to this problem.
