We are currently experiencing intermittent issues with inbound and outbound calls. We expect this to continue throughout the day. Calling may be affected for a few seconds up to 10 min. We apologize for the inconvenience.
If you encounter an emergency and are unable to dial 911 from a campus phone, you will need to complete the call from a cell phone.
Harrisonburg and Lancaster locations affected.
Maintenance was done on the component of the telephone system that handles external calling. Users may experience failed external calls during this time.
In diagnosing problems with faxing the component of the phone system that handles external calling will be taken offline.
A component of the phone system is not handling fax calls correctly. We have made progress diagnosing the problem and will continue efforts to resolve on Monday, June 26.
The component of the phone system which allows placing and receiving calls from on campus will be taken offline for maintenance.
This Saturday, 17 June 2017, from 5pm to 10pm is a scheduled Information Systems outage. We will be upgrading a core network storage device. Many services are affected, including:
- emu.edu (web site)
- Jenzabar EX, InfoMaker, and PowerFAIDS
- Network drives (P:, G:, Z:, etc.)
- Printing on the Harrisonburg campus
- Phone and voicemail service on the Harrisonburg campus
- Remote desktop services
- Wireless network access
Services not affected include:
- Internet access
- EMU Gmail
- EMU Google Drive and G-Suite.
- SSC Campus
- 25Live room scheduling

On Saturday, February 18 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm, we will be taking a component of the phone system offline. During the outage you will be able to make calls from your office phone, however you will not be able to receive incoming calls. Off-campus callers will not be able to leave voicemail; they should receive either a busy signal or a message that the call cannot be completed.

Outbound calling was unavailable between 9:30 and 11:20 this morning. The issue has been resolved.
On Saturday, January 7, from 7:30 am until late in the evening, significant improvements will be made to the network closet on the third floor of the Campus Center. During this time there will be no phone, network, or WiFi access on the third floor. Other areas of the building will not be affected.
