There is a network outage on Cedarwood 2nd floor – it is being looked into.
A core network device is being upgraded, requiring a complete network outage.
ALL network services will be affected for the bulk of the outage, scheduled from 7 – 11 a.m.
UPDATE at 11:15: Some services are still being started up. Everything should be available again by noon.
Received call from Parkwood 942 RD that all students in 942 were without wireless and that wired didn’t work either. As of 4:00pm Info Systems mgmt confirmed that a technician must be brought to campus to solve the problem. Technician is enroute.
5:00pm Update: Problem resolved.
There’s a problem with wireless authentication that’s preventing most wireless users from connecting.
We’re investigating the cause of this problem.
The connection between the Campus Center and the Library has failed, affecting network connectivity to the Library.
We are currently looking for the cause of the problem.
The transition to a new generator for the Data Center will require that some non-critical servers be taken down for a period. This should not be noticeable to non-IS users.
Information Systems will be conducting routine maintenance on core servers and network equipment. During the outage, network services will be limited or unavailable. This includes, but is not limited to, email, file server access, wireless, SIS, myEMU, Blackboard, and copying and printing.
UPDATE 2:00PM – Some issues developed during the last hour of these maintenance procedures. All technology services should be availabe EXCEPT e-mail. We now estimate that e-mail will return to service around 3:00pm today (Saturday, 11/21).
UPDATE 3:35PM – E-mail issues continue. E-mail will likely return to service about 4pm.
Hardware and software upgrades are needed for two critical network devices. Internet access will be affected for about one hour, while all network access will be interrupted a few times, briefly (a few minutes, each).
