Long distance telephone service became unavailable around 1:30. Our provider has been contacted and we continue to look into the issue. On campus users can make long distance calls, but none will be received.
-Reports of intermittent problems when calling long distance was discovered this morning. A trouble ticket has been opened with our long distance carrier.
-Service is now working. There was a problem with our DS3 connection through Verizon. This is not the first time this circuit has caused us problems. We will request that our traffic be routed through another circuit.
We are experiencing a problem with our long distance service. A trouble ticket has been opened with our provider. If you are a faculty or staff member and need to make a long distance call you may do so by using a calling card.
We are experiencing another long-distance service outage, we have contacted our carrier (Qwest) and expect to have it resolved this morning.
If you need to call long distance and have an EMU calling card you should use that until the system is resolved.

2:00pm, Mon, 8/23: Our trouble ticket has escalated throughout the day with Qwest, we are now at their highest level. Qwest is working with other companies at this time to resolve the outage. We hope to have this resolved yet today, but we cannot give a definitive time as to when it will be fixed.

5:00pm, Mon, 8/23: Received notification from Qwest that a Verizon representative will be here at 8:00 A.M Tuesday (8/24) to test the local loop with the Central Office here in town. Until then, service will be unavailable.

11:20am, Tue, 8/24: Verizon appears to have fixed the problem. Service seems to be working again. There appears to have been a bad connection on Verizons connection between our termination point and the local central office.
We are currently experiencing intermittent long distance outages due to circuit problems with our carrier. We hope to have the problem resolved by the morning of 8/20.
Problem was resolved around 8:30 this morning but we kept a trouble ticket open with Qwest until this afternoon in case the problem persisted. No problems were reported, ticket has been closed.
6/28 – In order to switch long distance carriers (From ITC/Deltacom to Qwest) the PBX that controls our phone system needs to be reconfigured. The duration of the outage should be short, hopefully less than 20 minutes, if we do not have any complications with the T1 that connects our system to Qwest’s.
As of 1:30 P.M the switch over is on hold due to problems with the local loop, further action will not be taken until Qwest contacts us. All systems are currenly functioning properly with BTI services.
4:00 P.M, June 28 – Qwest has opened up a trouble ticket with Verizon to address the local loop issue. We will not switch service today.
Switchover has been rescheduled to start Wednesday, June 30 at 9:00 A.M.
9/30 – Problems with our equipment, we are waiting to here back from our vendor for additional support. We are still utilizing service from BTi. EXPECT PERIODIC OUTAGES AS WE MAKE CONFIGURATION CHANGES.

AS OF 11:00 A.M.- All outbound long distance is now working on the Qwest network.
Our current long distance provider prematurely released the 800 number to Qwest, who will be our provider later this month.
After many phone calls and pressure the service has been restored.
Long distance outage from 3:00-4:30, rerouting changes were made. Users can now make long distance calls, but inbound long distance service is not working.
Our service provider has been contacted. We hope to have the problem solved soon.
9:00 A.M 8/20/04 – The circuit appears to be stable. Long distance service is currently working. We will monitor the traffic until 5:00 P.M. this afternoon. If no problems arise we will close our trouble ticket with Qwest at that time.
