ST crashed
ST crashed today when doing some general maintenance.
When DSrepair finished, it showed on error corrected. Hit the ESC key and the notification went away, but the screen never came back to normal. CPU was at 90+, monitor showed nothing abnormal in busiest threads – a lot were 200,000 – 300,000. Had to power off and restart.
Email delivery delay
The virus scanner on tcell failed to restart correctly after reloading virus patterns, causing email delivery to be delayed until the scanner was restarted manually.
Public Copier System unavailable
The Copier server needs to be reboot.
Wireless outage in Common Grounds
Ciscoworks showed the WAP in common grounds to no be responding.
It ended up that someone moved the patch cord to the WAP – and connected it to the computer. Since there is a power injector for it, wow – no power – it didn’t work. Now the question is – did it hurt the computer. It wasn’t on since it was missing the power cord.
NS server unavailable
Could not log in to NS. The console reported that console.log could not be written. The server had not abended, and did not show abnormal stats in Monitor. A forced “down” got the server almost back to DOS, where Ctrl-Alt-Del reset it. On boot it stopped at the RAID controller BIOS, and the activity light for the lower left HD was on solid. After power-cycling, the server booted normally.
Blackboard server outage: Fri, Feb 4, 7-8:00 US EST – routine patch install
Downtime NOTICE:
Blackboard will be unavailable on Thurs Feb 3 from 7:00 – 8:00 AM US Eastern Standard Time (UT: 1200 – 1300 hrs.) for routine patch/maintenance upgrades. This should be a routine, low-risk patch, and we do NOT anticipate any extended problems. Please accept my apologies for this late notice, but we’d like to complete this before the weekend.
If problems crop up, we can revert back to the previous state fairly quickly, so an hour should be sufficient to handle those contingencies.
A few faculty have recently report some anomalies in Blackboard. We believe it would be prudent to install these 3 minor upgrades to try and resolve some of those glitches.
