Scheduled: Turnitin Scheduled Maintenance
Turnitin services will be briefly unavailable on October 28, 2018:
- Turnitin (including all integrations and Turnitin Early Adopter Program)
- SimCheckOEM (TCA API)
- Feedback Studio for iOS
- iThenticate
- WriteCheck
To ensure that services remain stable, particularly during high submission periods, this micro maintenance (30 minutes) will include several hardware updates and performance improvements.
Scheduled: Telephone system upgrade Saturday
This Saturday, October 20, beginning at 8:00 am we will be updating components of the campus phone system. Between 8 am and 10 am we anticipate there will be several brief periods, 5 minutes or less, during which there will be no dialtone and incoming calls will fail. Aside from this, phones should function normally.

Unscheduled: password.emu.edu unavailable
password.emu.edu is currently unavailable. Users will receive an error message when attempting to login.
Unscheduled: Brief wifi outage
Issues with connecting to wifi have been reported to IS this morning, and IS has also observed them. To resolve these, we are restarting a component of the wireless system, which will cause a brief outage for all wifi users. We apologize for the interruption but expect that it will resolve other problems that many are experiencing.
Unscheduled: phone service interruptions
Update: After two weeks without recurrence of the connection related problems, we are closing this outage.
Due to the return of problems with the cable that delivers phone service to campus, service for inbound and outbound calling is unreliable. We are working with our service provider to find a permanent solution to this recurring problem.
Scheduled: Internet service interruption
Internet service to campus, both Harrisonburg and Lancaster, will be unavailable on Tuesday, July 31 from 5:30 pm to 10:00 pm for the replacement of critical network infrastructure.
For those onsite at Harrisonburg or Lancaster, resources hosted by Information Systems will remain available, such as:
- Moodle
- MyEMU
- www.emu.edu
- workstation login and mapped drives
- wireless
- other on-campus resources.
Examples of what will not be available:
- Gmail, Google Drive, Calendar, YouTube, and all other Google services
- Zoom
- all other internet resources not hosted on the EMU campus (all other websites).
For anyone who is not onsite at Harrisonburg or Lancaster, the opposite of the above will apply.
Unplanned: Significant Outage to Multiple Services
As of early Tuesday morning, multiple services may be affected due to a failed update procedure. Multiple systems remain inaccessible, including Moodle and other services that require network logins. We continue to work diligently to find a solution. We will update this outage with further information as it becomes available.
Scheduled: Inbound/Outbound calling outage
Tuesday, July 24, 7AM: external calling will be taken down for up to 15 min to address ongoing issues.
Scheduled: Upgrade Moodle to v3.5
We will be upgrading Moodle to version 3.5 on Thursday, July 19th from 8am-11am.

Turnitin functionality from within the core Moodle assignment module will now be possible post upgrade. See here for more details.
