UPDATE: Upgrade is complete and has been successful. Operations have been tested, but please reach out to helpdesk@emu.edu if you run into issues after this morning.
This Thursday, June 4th, from 9-10 am, is a scheduled Information Technology outage for Papercut in order to perform a necessary upgrade. Papercut will be unavailable during this time, which will result in an outage of all network printing, copying, and scanning on the Harrisonburg campus. The Lancaster site will be unaffected. Please make sure to do any needed prints or copies before this time, or you will have to wait till after the upgrade is complete.
If you have difficulty printing after the upgrade, please reboot your computer to trigger a restart of your Papercut client software.

UPDATE: Internet service (including access to Jenzabar systems) is on-line. Remote access via client VPN and telephone service is still down. I.T. is working on restoring those services.
On Sunday, May 31, 1:30 pm to approximately 4:30 pm, IT will be performing an upgrade to the EMU Firewall. This will result in an extensive outage of networked technology on campus. Services impacted are:
Phones
Wired Network
Wireless Network
Internet
Printing
Classroom Technology
If you are off-campus some services will remain available, including all Google services, Moodle, Salesforce, and www.emu.edu. However, Jenzabar systems including J1 and MyEMU will not be available on or off campus.

On Wednesday May 6, 2026 at 8 pm until Thursday May 7, 2026 at 4:00 am Moodle will be unavailable due to infrastructure upgrades. The plan is to have Moodle available again by the early morning of May 7th.
Users will not notice any changes in terms of how Moodle looks.

The Wi-Fi in Northlawn 3rd and 4th floors will be down for a few minutes in the early afternoon on March 4.
Our Moodle vendor will be performing a small upgrade of the PHP version, the Turnitin plugin version, and a Moodle point release version. The upgrade will happen overnight, and the site will only be down for a few mins. Please contact helpdesk@emu.edu if you have any questions. Thanks!

Update 9:30 PM: Server work is complete. Patch 5 still needs to be applied to Jenzabar user computers.
Jenzabar Cloud services will apply Patch 5 to our SIS servers sometime between 7 PM 2/19/2026 and 4 AM on 2/20/2026. The work should take less than half an hour to complete, but we do not know when during the maintenance window the work will occur. Systems affected will include: Transact Payment Processing, PowerFAIDS, myEMU, J1 Desktop, and J1 Web.
Helpdesk, Moodle, and Navigate will all be available while myEMU is down. Here are links to use these products:
SIS servers will undergo disk maintenance starting at 7 PM this evening. SIS applications and services could be disrupted during this maintenance. J1 Web, myEMU, or other applications that rely on the SIS servers could be disrupted for a brief period.
