myEMU and EX scheduled outage

Saturday, November 7, 8:00 am to Sunday, November 8, 5:00 pm is a scheduled information systems outage for Student Information Systems (EX) and myEMU. We will be installing a major upgrade. EX and myEMU will be unavailable during this time.

We expect the outage to be for only EX and myEMU. No other systems will be affected.

Moodle will remain available at moodle.emu.edu .

If you use EX on a PC and have not shut it down for the weekend, you will need to reboot it after the update, before you first use EX next week.

If you have questions or concerns please contact the Information Systems Helpdesk: helpdesk@emu.edu or 540.432.4357 (x4357 on the Harrisonburg campus).

EX FAM module outage, PowerFAIDS 20.4

10/15 8:15am update: Due to system instability we are deferring the upgrade until Tuesday 10/20.

For those of you that use the Financial Aid module, there will be an upgrade planned for 10/15/15, Thursday morning until 10:00am. Any connections to Financial Aid data will not be operational (FAM module, military subtab) while we get PowerFAIDs up to date to version 20.4.

You may use any other part of EX during this time.

Scheduled: Website and Database Migrations

Update 9:20am: The migration of the broadcast email system is complete. All systems should be restored.

Update 9:00am: The migration of www.emu.edu has completed. We’re still in the process of migrating databases for the broadcast email system.

On Saturday, September 19th between 8am and 9am we will be migrating the EMU website to a new web-server. During this time you may experience intermittent issues accessing the website.

In addition, several databases that provide services to the EMU website will be migrated to a new server. You may notice slight disruptions of the following services:

  • Broadcast Email system (all emails will be sent, but may be delayed slightly)
  • Limesurvey based surveys, including any Course Evaluation surveys
  • Machform based forms

Internet connection problems

3:15pm: All systems are functioning normally. Further details are available below.
2:15pm: We’ve received reports of internet connection problems. Technicians are investigating.

Between 2:15pm and 3:15pm on Tue 1 Sep users on the Harrisonburg campus experienced problems connecting to web sites and services. These problems were intermittent and inconsistent, with some sites being available and others not.

We have traced the problem to anomalies in web traffic across our two internet connections. We are working with both internet service providers to further diagnose the problem and prevent its recurrence.
